Full Record of Custom 150*150 Aluminum LED Light Profile For Saudi Client: The Tough Journey From Requirement To Delivery

2025-12-04

In the field of aluminum foreign trade customization, the completion of each customized OEM & ODM order is inseparable from the precise grasp of customer needs and the coordinated efforts of the team.

In September 2025, we received a client, Mr. Mohammed, from Saudi Arabia. For the large-scale commercial complex lighting project he was in charge of, he urgently needed a customized 150*150 aluminum LED light profile. From the vague needs during the initial docking to the high recognition upon the final perfect delivery, this experience has strengthened our belief: professional customization capabilities and efficient team collaboration are the core codes to win the trust of foreign trade clients.

Initial Meeting: Precise "Breakthrough" Under Vague Needs

Mr. Mohammed found us through the custom case section of our independent website. During the first video conference, he only clearly stated that he "needed 150*150 specification lighting profiles for the corridors and atriums of the commercial complex", but had no clear concept about the profile's wall thickness, surface treatment process, load-bearing requirements, and adaptation details with LED beads. More critically, he mentioned that the project schedule was tight, requiring the entire process from design to delivery to be completed within 45 days—nearly 30% shorter than the cycle of regular custom orders.

Sunny, the salesperson in charge of the docking, did not rush to advance. Instead, combining the local climate characteristics of Saudi Arabia (high temperature, dusty) and the usage scenarios of commercial complex lighting, he took the initiative to raise questions: "Your project is located in the center of Riyadh. The outdoor temperature often exceeds 45℃ in summer. Does the profile need stronger heat dissipation? Profiles for corridor lighting may be accidentally collided by pedestrians. Do you need to improve impact resistance?" These targeted questions lit up Mr. Mohammed's eyes. He immediately supplemented key requirements such as "heat dissipation first" and "scratch-resistant surface", and also shared the CAD layout of the project, laying the foundation for subsequent design.

Drawing Design: Demand Implementation Behind Three Revisions

After receiving the initial requirements, the design team issued the first version of the 150*150 aluminum LED light profile design drawing within 12 hours: adopting 6063 aluminum alloy material (balancing light weight and heat dissipation), wall thickness designed as 2mm, surface treated with black sand texture spraying (corrosion-resistant and scratch-resistant), with reserved LED bead slots and heat dissipation holes inside. However, after seeing the drawing, Mr. Mohammed raised the first problem: "The profile needs to be embedded in the ceiling keel. The 150mm width has a 2mm deviation from the keel size we purchased. Can the structure be adjusted while keeping the external dimensions unchanged?"

The design team immediately held a meeting. The core contradiction was that "fixed external dimensions + internal structure adjustment" might affect load-bearing and heat dissipation. The team revised the plan overnight: offset the internal slot position by 1mm and changed the heat dissipation holes from circular to strip-shaped, which not only adapted to the keel size but also ensured the heat dissipation area. After submitting the second version of the drawing, Mr. Mohammed put forward a new requirement: "Some areas of the project have curved ceilings, and straight profiles cannot be adapted. Can a segmented spliceable design be made?"

This requirement meant redesigning the splicing interface and ensuring the tightness and load-bearing capacity after splicing. The design team, together with technicians from the production workshop, proposed a scheme of "mortise-tenon splicing + stainless steel buckle fixing", which is convenient for installation and ensures structural stability. When the third version of the drawing, with splicing details and stress analysis report, was submitted, Mr. Mohammed expressed his approval on the spot: "You have considered more carefully than me. This is the custom plan I want."

Wall Thickness Dispute: Rational Adjustment Supported by Data

Just as the mold was about to be opened after the drawing was confirmed, Mr. Mohammed suddenly proposed to "increase the wall thickness from 2mm to 3mm", on the grounds that "Saudi commercial projects have high requirements for safety standards, and thicker wall thickness can enhance a sense of security". However, this adjustment is by no means a simple size change—increasing the wall thickness will increase the profile weight by 20%, which will not only increase transportation costs but also may exceed the load-bearing limit of the ceiling keel, and further extend the production cycle.

Instead of directly refusing, we launched a "data verification" process: the test team conducted a load-bearing test on the 2mm wall thickness sample, hanging a 5kg weight on the profile (far exceeding the total weight of 1.2kg of LED beads + installation accessories). After 72 consecutive hours, the profile showed no deformation or cracking; the technical department also issued a mechanical analysis report, proving that the 3mm wall thickness 6063 aluminum alloy profile fully complies with the Saudi "Commercial Building Lighting Safety Code".

Salesperson Sunny sent the test video, analysis report, and cost calculation table (3mm wall thickness will increase the purchase cost by 15%) to Mr. Mohammed, explaining: "The core of safety lies in material and structural design, not simply increasing the wall thickness. Our plan not only meets safety standards but also helps you control costs and construction period." Three days later, Mr. Mohammed replied: "Your professional data has convinced me. Let's proceed with the 2mm wall thickness."

Load-Bearing Crisis: Quality Adherence in Extreme Tests

After the first batch of samples was produced by opening the mold, an accident occurred: in the load-bearing test simulating the curved splicing scenario, a group of spliced samples showed slight bending deformation—although the deformation was only 0.5mm, far lower than the industry standard of 1mm, the design team immediately stopped subsequent production.

At the problem investigation meeting, the team found that the uneven distribution of stress points of the buckles at the splicing joints caused the problem. To thoroughly solve the problem, the technical department redesigned the buckle structure, increasing the original 2 stress points to 4; the production workshop modified the mold overnight and remade the splicing accessories; the test team conducted an "extreme test": hanging a 10kg weight on the spliced profile for 120 consecutive hours, while raising the ambient temperature to 50℃ (simulating the high indoor temperature in Saudi Arabia in summer), and finally the sample showed no deformation.

When we sent the problem cause, solution, and comparative data of the two tests to Mr. Mohammed, he not only did not question but also replied: "Your attitude of taking the initiative to expose and solve problems makes me more confident in the product." This little episode has become the key to winning the customer's trust.

Transaction and Delivery: Perfect Conclusion of Coordinated Operations

After the sample was confirmed correct, Mr. Mohammed signed a purchase contract for 5,000 meters of 150*150 aluminum LED light profile on the spot. To ensure delivery within 45 days, we launched a "cross-departmental coordination mechanism": urgently arranging the mold workshop to produce molds; the quality inspection department conducting sampling tests covering 12 indicators including wall thickness, surface treatment, and splicing accuracy.

During the production process, Salesperson Sunny sent production progress videos to Mr. Mohammed every day, showing the whole process transparently from raw material cutting, extrusion molding to surface treatment.

After the installation was completed, Mr. Mohammed sent on-site photos and videos: the 150*150 aluminum profile perfectly fit the curved ceiling, and the LED light was evenly projected through the profile, with the effect far exceeding expectations. He wrote in the email: "This is the smoothest custom cooperation I have had since engaging in lighting projects. Your customized OEM & ODM capabilities are impeccable, and I will only choose you for subsequent projects."
